Position Overview:

Plancorp’s Portfolio Analyst reports to the Portfolio Manager and is a key part of Plancorp’s St. Louis based investment operations team. The Portfolio Analyst’s primary function is to supervise accounts for our clients. They are responsible for management of the intended strategy, all trading, distribution requests, tax loss harvesting opportunities, rebalancing, and cash investment needs. A successful Portfolio Analyst will monitor assigned accounts, meet department trading needs, and excel at performing all job duties as described below.   • Manage client accounts by reviewing each week for tax loss harvesting, opportunistic rebalancing, and cash investment and generation needs to overall portfolio strategy.
  • Execute trade recommendations to appropriate custodians following trading best practices.
  • Review individual bond positions with Investment Committee approved guidelines and determine sell/buy.
  • Coordinate the flow of data from the portfolio management system into the rebalancing system, and connecting to relationship management system.
  • Set up new client accounts and create implementation recommendations for onboarding of new client investments.
  • Prepare 401(k) recommendations for client accounts.
  • Collaborate with Investment & Operations teams on software implementations/upgrades, and other projects to help support client needs.
  • Work with the appropriate custodians and Wealth Management teams to explain trades and answer investment related questions.
  • Prepare reports per the Wealth Management team request to be used during client/prospect meetings and create quarterly performance reports
  • Keep accurate documentation for trades placed, review for settlement issues, check custodian alerts, enter specific lots trades, and update cost basis issues.
  • Responsible for submitting trade corrections with the custodians and documenting process and performing daily reconciliation process to check for trading issues.

What you bring…
  • An understanding of the difference between actively managed and passively managed portfolios.
  • Lots of practice with attention to detail, as demonstrated through your experience with accurate documentation, and updating/maintaining a database.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree from accredited four-year university; business or math-related major preferred.
  • Commitment to acting in the clients’ best interests.
  • Respect for the confidentiality of client and corporate information.
  • Ability to communicate well and function as part of a cohesive team.
  • Previous experience trading – mutual fund, equity or bonds or working within a portfolio management team is helpful, but only if you also have everything listed above.
